Project: Finances

Project: Finances

Money, money, money…must be funny…in a rich man’s world…

If you can name the band who sings that song, then you are my people! Also, you’ve got some killer taste in music 😉

For all of you clueless people, it’s ABBA, duh!

Anyway, a huge part of getting the most out of life is being money smart. When I chose a degree in college, I picked something I enjoyed learning about (Human Development) which didn’t lead me to a career path as a…human developer….ha! Instead I found myself in the teaching field, which as we all know it, doesn’t pay alllll that great (at least here in Arizona).

While teaching (especially when single) I encountered many financial hardships and found that I was more money-strapped than I would have liked to be. After getting married my husband and I enjoyed more financial freedom as we had dual income. Just a few months ago, though, we had our first baby and decided it was best for me to stay home and be the primary caregiver for our beautiful daughter, Ava. We have entered a new phase of life in which I know my Target runs can no longer be done on the daily (haha) and we have big plans for our family.

I will use Project Based Life as a way to journal the different things we have learned work for us in helping improve our finances and build our wealth. I will have challenges every once in a while based around making good financial decisions (like…maybe NOT go to Target everyday! ha!)

What kinds of financial projects would you like to see? I know some things we’d like to focus on are paying off student debt, living off one income, creating and maintaining a budget, investing, how to choose a good career path, and maybe a little budget vacationing.

I’d love to hear any input you have on financial projects that would benefit you. There is so much to tackle in this area!
